She had spent most of that day in another part of the state, simply sitting in the sun, recharging, if you would. While she felt bad leaving the city when it was all out chaos, Kara was useless to everyone if she didn't have her power. So when she was drained, she went and spent a day recharging. After the sun had set, she had made her way back to the darkened city, checked in at the Hotel to see if Cordy had any visions that demanded attention, and then went out on the street. Even if she wasn't a total power, stopping vampires and most demons was still no trouble for the alien. She had yet to meet anyone she couldn't defeat, even at half power.
That evening she had done the usual. Fly around, and listen for anyone who needed help. There was always someone, always. But she couldn't always be there. Not being at full power required her to eat more than she would normally have to. Not that she usually didn't eat as much as a human would, but she had never had to before. Now she did. According to her watch that she now wore, it was nearing midnight. She'd return to the hotel soon to catch up on her sleep just a little. Again, she didn't need as much as most people, but she still needed some. But before that, she was going to feed her stomach.
The last vampire she had been fighting turned to dust in her hands, the person it had been attacking long gone, run off again. If he was safe, she didn't know. Kara could only hope he had the brains to get inside somewhere secure. Sighing, the Kryptonian turned, doing one last sweep of the ally before her feet left the ground, and she was zipping off toward one of those restaurant diners open at all hours. Seconds later she was touching down in front of the door, and walking in. She wasn't playing it safe anymore. Helping others was all she was worried about, and Kara was fairly sure there were plenty of people who had seen her using her powers by now.
Kara walked into the diner, turning her head back and forth to get a look at who was in there. Her hand raised to brush a few strands of hair from her eyes, before making her way over to an empty booth by a window with a view of the main street. She wasn't sitting long before a waitress came over. How anyone could keep going to work on a regular basis was beyond her. When you worked in a place like this, there was no security, and no one to protect you. It didn't take her long to order from the menu, and soon she was sitting back in the booth, her head tilting to the side to stare out the window.
She couldn't believe that some people still wondered the streets like they would any other night. Like there was nothing wrong. How were these people not dead yet? It was like some humans had no concept of self preservation. It wasn't like she could force them all to stay inside, but she wished she could. She hardly noticed when a coffee was placed in front of her, or if she didn't she didn't really show signs of it. Kara was lost in thought, for the most part ignoring anyone else who was in the diner. While her mind was else where, her eyes were alert outside the window, just in case someone who got themselves in trouble just happened to run by. She wanted this night mare to end. Never being at full power had a serious blow to her ego, and confidence. At least she had the ability to recharge a little, she hadn't become fully powerless yet. But how long would that last.
