Mary's reaction to the question was enough to stir further that lurking fear of John's, that the demon from their world, straight from the Pit, was one of the worst, a fear only prodded further by their apparent lack of signs of torture. "Shh, alright, shh," he soothed, pulling Mary closer to kiss her temple, finding no more than the bump on brief inspection, enough to know immediate first aid could wait until they were in the house.
"It's not safe at all," he said in agreement with Dean, turning to face Peter and Noah. Like the last time the Winchester family had tried to protect Claire, John thought the house was safest. Unlike the last time, there would be no one held against their will. "You can all stay as long as you need, you can call your family, you and yours are free to come and go as you want, but right now, we're getting behind the only damned protection against what we might be dealing with."
John would readily agree that against nearly all threats in the city, the Hyperion was the safest place to be in all of LA, and that the young man who was the Champion of this city was capable and had many tricks up his sleeve, but right now, the Winchester house had the set of spells even that place didn't, spells that would protect while they regrouped.
When Dean's hand landed on her shoulder, saving her the dilemma of figuring out who she had to let go of to grab him too, Claire turned her head and pressed her cheek against his hand. Her father behind her, Peter there feeding her feelings of understanding she clung to as much as she physically clung to him, and Dean there too – even now, even after everything, Claire didn't shy away from three of the most important people in her life. Peter was offering her the reminder that there were things to connect to, but she had known it. She had held all those connections to her through all the demon had done.
She jumped, however, at the reminder they were all standing in the middle of he street. Not safe. Not safe. But it was safe at the Winchesters. The spells on the house that kept out demons and powerful angels, they would have to keep out this demon too. They just would.
"Please." She looked up at Peter, asking him to stay despite knowing it would cut him off from the others as long as he was inside, because she didn't want him to go back to the Hyperion and away from her, out of reach of her calling to him. At least not yet, though she knew he'd have to go eventually, because through everything, no matter how life had changed lately, he was still an essential part of her, and being cut off from the mental check ins and being a thought away was, in some ways, as hard as some of the other things that had been done to her.
Besides, Peter needed to be there, and her dad too, so she could tell them that many of them were in danger now.
