Sam set the basket onto the table and started rummaging around. First, he pulled out a bottle. It looked like wine, but as he turned the label around to present it to her, it indicated that it was very much a bottle of grape juice. The fun Welch's kind. "I bought this special for you," he laughed, setting it down. The food, covered with aluminum foil, was the next thing to make way from the basket. He had decided that just putting their food onto paper plates and wrapping them up would be the easiest way to handle it, so he had two plates already made for the both of them inside. Sam set hers in front of her and pulled up the foil, revealing chicken with rice, mashed potatoes, and assorted vegetables.
"And I cooked it all by myself, too," Sam told her pridefully, "or...you know, with Mom's help. But I did help. You can ask."
