Sighing softly, Claire set down the pack of plastic utensils on her hands, dragging her fingers through her hair. It was the waiting – it was always the waiting that got to people in the end, waiting to see if the person they loved would make it through whatever they faced. Add to that all the concerns that wouldn't go away for some of them easily and it was an unhappy place.
"They said on the news that the longest it's been reported is two and some days," she said, nodding to the TV that was currently muted and on some random channel that wasn't a news channel, "but that's the people they keep on the property. The people who have family, they seem to get past it faster."
Moving into the path of his pacing, Claire stopped him with a hand in the middle of his torso and then stepped forward and hugged him. Sam's fight was impossibly hard, but so was the experience for the others, from Heather to Dean. She'd make sure Heather had a little break later to have support too, but right now, Claire's focus was Dean.
"He'll be okay," she said, tightening her arms. "He's Sam, he's strong. He's got all of you to get him through this. It'll be over soon."
