Who - Ruby & Zatanna What - Fear breeds paranoia Where - Random LA streets When - Late Evening 28th Rating - TBD Status - In progress
Ruby had wandered the streets for a while utterly unsure of what to do. Sam was about to ruin everything, everything by diving into the stupid Pits.
Why had the pits shown up?, Did the Universe hate her? They promised everything Sam had ever wanted. And why the hell not a month or two ago, back before Lilith was defeated when he would never have considered getting rid of them and Ruby could have worked on him more, could have made him realise all he would be giving up, made him better, stronger, less willing to walk away. Made him see that they weren't all bad.
Or maybe it was Heather, was she the reason. Ruby had liked the girl, she had, but that had unravelled too, all of it, so soon after Lilith after thinking she had lost Castiel, Heather had deeply hurt her and Sam had abandoned her and things had just spirled out of control from there. And Ruby hated not being in control.
She couldn't talk to Castiel. Not about this, this was as he'd put it, a conflict of interest, she supposed she couldn't blame him, she'd asked him to convince Sam to keep demonic powers and he couldn't. He couldnt bring himself to do it and that was fine. But there was still the family. Still John and Dean and Mary all telling him not to. And John and Dean didn't want some of the demons she could name back up here.
But she couldn't talk to them either, not about her ultimate plans for Sam. They wouldn't understand.
Still she'd been through what they had, well, no, she hadn't. Ruby had been a nobody back when she was first in hell, her soul had belonged to the demon that the Winchesters had known as Tammi, and she'd broken pretty easily, she had nothing to fight to remember like John and Dean. And yet for some reason she was the one who remembered. Maybe the only one.
Maybe it was fate, maybe...maybe she was supposed to find Sam. Train him, maybe it was all a bigger plan.
Whatever it was he was walking away from it.
And Ruby's days would be numbered. She couldn't hide behind Castiel forever and she knew hell wanted her back, any demons that showed here, and she was under no illusions that Lilith and Azazel were it, would want her dead, or worse.
As she walked she was filled with a sudden paranoia gazing at passers by unable to keep the sudden blinding fear from her eyes, she was looking for demon. Looking for anything familiar. Of course she didnt see any but it was only a matter of time. If Sam did this. It was only a matter of time.
