The name sounded familiar - she'd seen ads for the firm, as well as references on the boards - but Jaenelle didn't know all the details. Still, if Cathy believed they were the reasons behind this, then Jaenelle believed her.
"If they're looking for revege, trying to break down the mind would be a good first step." Her midnight voice was still there, a reminder of what she was. "Dreams..." She trailed off, remembering a few of the dreams she herself had been subjected to. Briarwood. Little Terielle. Greer.
Daemon.
She shook her head, clearing away the thoughts. "Dreams are powerful. The mind is a dangerous place to tread." Then she let out a breath. "I can spin a tangled web to let you sleep tonight. Something that will block out any dreams, whether natural or forced. Until I can determine how the nightmares are coming to you, and how to reverse it, that's about the best I can do. The web won't be able to hold for long if it has to resist something it is ill-prepared to resist.
Jaenelle slung an arm around Cathy's shoulders, and gently led her into the living room. If the bed was a stress point, she would avoid it for now. "Sit down," she said, calling in a thick, soft blanket. She added a warming spell as she draped it around Cathy. "You tell me what's been going on, and I'll try and learn what I can. For now, you rest yourself, and I'll start on the brews."
