Gabriel wasn't sure whether it was worrying or refreshing to see someone arrive who didn't seem to have any experience with anything that permeated everyday existence in this LA. Most people that showed up seemed to have at least some understanding of some of it even if it wasn't the type of things that were relevant to this version of LA. But this woman (whose name he couldn't recall being told) seemed to be pointing herself down the exact opposite path of all of that. While most accepted it easily, or with only minimal trepidation, this was going to be a harder case. Occam's Razor didn't apply in this situation except in the fact that out of all of the most outlandish options, the simplest of the bizarre was the best and the truest. Of course, as long as they were all one prolonged acid trip, there wasn't much hope for relating much more than that the figments of her imagination were clearly unbalanced.
Even after almost a year in the city, it took Gabriel two wrong turns and almost ten minutes longer than he had anticipated to actually find the address that he'd been provided with. Introductions with the desk clerk were awkward. He wasn't used to referring to himself as "watchmaker Gabriel" very often (or at all) so the phrase had came out in a sort of odd laugh, one which had been repeated when the clerk had made a call to alert...her that he was here. It was a dorky way to introduce himself, but it was better than some of the things that could have been said.
