Surfing! [OPEN]
For nine months Sarah had been in Los Angeles and there was one thing she had never tried before. Surfing. There just really had never been time to learn or even try it, as a day at the beach usually meant relaxing for her, rather than strenuous activity, but some people couldn't lay around and do nothing, even on vacation. Not that her husband could help he needed to be active, but just the same, vacations should be spent being lazy at least part of the time.
Still, the active part had been fun so far, even if Sarah had found herself in the water more times than she had ridden any waves. She could have preventing the inevitable spills easily, but that would have been cheating. Doing it unassisted was more fun and more satisfying.
"Oof!" Hooking her arms over the board after emerging from the water again, she turned her head toward Peter. "All right, I'm done for right now," she called, then laughed as he comically flailed and toppled into the water again. "Such a smartass!" He'd been doing it on purpose over and over, enjoying falling more than riding the waves, but it was that that made this vacation even better, to see him so clearly enjoying himself without restraint.
Once on the beach again, she jabbed the board upright in the sand and moved towards an occupied piece of the beach, twisting the excess water out of long hair as she went.
"You'd think I'd be a master of the waves here at least," she said jokingly, flopping down on the huge beach blanket spread out near several plush sun chairs.
