She wasn't trying to hide her anxiety, knowing there would be no way she couldn't even manage it just then. Besides, she needed to focus her energy on getting it all out, rather than hiding her wracked emotions.
"I, um..." She swallowed again and turned her body a little to be able to face him better. "I went out with Jo and...and Faith and Mary today. We went to Claire's place for a while. I needed privacy to do it, you know. I mean, it wasn't that I couldn't have done it here. But..."
She was getting off course, and if she let herself keep rambling, there was no way she would ever get to the point. And that was the part she was most afraid of.
"Sam..." She sighed, shaking her head and closing her eyes. She hesitated a moment, then stood up from the bed and walked away, standing with her back to him and her arms crossed over her chest.
"I can't do this," she whispered, moreso to herself.
