“No sneaking around you, huh?” His voice rumbled low as he stepped out of the shadows, leaving the window and the backdrop of the darkened sky behind him. Batman glanced at the flashing screens, glared and clenched his jaw shut tight. He approached her from behind, his footsteps light, his shoulders stiff.
This was his first time seeing her and her presence in the room softened his temper ever so slightly. Sight of the wheelchair put a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach, a sure reminder of what the Joker was capable of. He looked away; put his eyes on the screen that currently had her attention.
“Anything yet?”
The Joker needed to be caught and put away, thrown somewhere secure, in a place that he wouldn’t be able to squirm his way out of. Batman was itching to get his hands on him, but he wouldn’t put his money on them grabbing him tonight. It would take time and effort and he was willing to give those things if it meant getting the job done.
