He could have arrived with nothing, with zero dollars to his name, and still have survived without issuing a single complaint. However, it was nice to not have to go without. It made what he did so much easier and he had to admit, he was comfortable where he was. He appreciated his place of authority, the pedestal he was set on, his reputation. People trusted him here. They were aware of what he was all about and most of them didn’t question him. He wasn’t alone. Batman had not put the feelings to words, but he approved of the company, of Barbara and Kara and Clark.
What he should feel for Selina, he wasn’t clear on. There wasn’t a single memory of her and when he’d stepped out of the car, the look that he took was his first one. She was a beautiful woman, but she also couldn’t keep her hands to herself and he couldn’t overlook a fault like that.
Traffic was a major annoyance, during the day, at night, in the early hours of the morning. Trying to maneuver through the clumps of screeching horns and pissed off business men, mothers with screaming children in the backseat, gave him a headache. He was happy to be out. Finally. It was a breath of fresh air.
“Anywhere you wanted to go?” Bruce could stay out on the streets and not feel uneasy, but he couldn’t speak for Selina and how she’d feel about that.
