It was over. It was over and Ben was happy, because it meant they could leave. The demons were gone, they hadn't had to figure out how to complete their Epically Awesome Escape Plan because Claire and the other Claire had showed up, and he was going to see Dean and get to go home. Not home home, but home here in LA, which in some respects was better than home home, even if it was sometimes worse. If his mom was here, it'd be pretty well perfect.
But he'd miss his mom again later, right now he had more immediate people he'd missed in the day plus he'd been gone. He hadn't been at all ashamed to latch on to Claire when she'd shown up, just as he and Molly and the others were figuring out how to get out of the building, because this had been a serious situation. Even in non-serious situations, he'd been known to hug. After all, he'd hugged Dean after Dean had helped him with the bullies, when he'd been no more that some guy who knew his mom. He hugged his mom all the time, but girls were pretty much the exception to hugging versus being cool.
This, however, was full on clinging with no intent to let go until he'd seen the others, people Claire had sworn were there, because Claire's arrival meant safety. Dean's presence somewhere in the building meant safety. He'd been tough and resourceful before they arrived, now he could just be a kid.
Though part of him, the insatiable curiosity of a little boy, wanted to look around at the place he'd been stuck in as they made their way to the ground floor, experience told him he wouldn't like what he would see and that it wouldn't look just like some scary movie, it would be very real. There were kids missing and he doubted it meant they'd gotten to go home. Just realizing that made him hold tighter to Claire and keep his eyes closed until Claire poked him to get his attention.
He'd believed her, that everyone was here, but seeing it was something else entirely.
"Dean!" The name rang out with unrestricted happiness in the open space and Ben practically threw himself out of Claire's arms to hit the ground running. It wasn't more than a few feet between he and Dean but running was the only way to get there, as far as he was concerned.
