Even as she heard the sound of the door opening, Heather couldn't pick her head up right away. It wasn't just the pain there that stopped her, either. She couldn't look at him and think about Uriel's words at the same time like she knew she would do. If she did, then the guilt would come, guilt that had crawled under her skin ever since the angel had told her she had something to prove in saving Sam from Ruby. Of course she wanted to save him, but he didn't need to be saved. Or did he? Would it really be that much better if Ruby was out of the picture?
Those thoughts were stopped when Sam sat down on the bed and wrapped an arm around her. It also caused her to turn her head so that she was looking at him, and a moment later, she uncurled from around herself and practically threw her arms around him, squeezing tightly as if she hadn't seen him in years and was just reuniting with him now.
She didn't say anything right away, but she did press a kiss to the side of his face in a similar manner to what he'd done. She lingered there, eyes closed, before she buried her face into the side of his neck, just holding him.
