There were some advantages to living in LA. Namely that in a city filled with movie stars and musicians and kids with more disposable income than most adults it didn't seem out of place for Edward, who even on his best days still looked no more than early twenties, to have hired a realtor and look at multi million dollar homes. In LA money meant space he soon learned and space was a need rather than a want. The point of this was to give them that, their apartment, despite it being larger than some houses, was feeling crowded with the five of them, and more than that there was nowhere for the youngest Cullen to run and be the child she was. And while Nessie might not attract as much attention in the outdoors as the rest of them, Edward wanted them to be able to enjoy being outside with Nessie. So a house it would be. In the hills where acres instead of feet and large trees kept houses seperated from neighbours, somewhere they wouldn't have to pretend as much.
He had been at it for over a week, since Bella's suggestion really, and was actually proud at how well he had hidden it all from everyone, except Alice of course. It was a frustrating process though, trying to find a suitable house for all of them. There were many nice ones the realtor showed him but they just didn't feel right. He wanted them to have a house that was big and spacious but that could still feel like a home and not a page from a magazine. A pool would be nice, seeing as it was LA, they needed at least a four car garage and driveway space for their ever growing collection of fine automobiles. He wanted Alice and Jasper to have a room on their own floor, a place they could be alone and call their own that for obvious reasons needed to have a large closet. He wanted a room for him and Bella that would be close to one for Nessie, Edward was quickly learning he didn't like having the girl that far from him.
He was starting to think it was near impossible and then he pulled up to the fourth house Jason had for him for the night. Even just looking up at it he suddenly had a very good feeling, one that was only heightened as he walked into the house. All the white and the large bay windows reminded him so much of their home in Forks. He barely heard Jason ramble on about upgrades to the wiring, the history of the house, the architect, and the poor boy could barely keep up with Edward as he wandered through the house, finding all the things he had been looking for. There were things he knew would never be used but were part of any house, the kitchen for instance, though the freezer was big which would help with Nessie's purple popsicle addiction. But there was a huge garage off of the kitchen, large spacious rooms including one that would fit a baby grand perfectly he realized with a smile. And the final test that sold him, the massive walk in closet in the upstairs main bedroom. Alice would be delighted.
"I'll take it," he stated to Jason and offered the fellow a grin.
