WHO: Gabriel Gray & Peter Petrelli WHAT: Gabriel needs to go out on his own without the risk of getting caught. What better way to accomplish this than ask? Too bad he has to lie about why. WHEN: Midafternoon WHERE: The Hyperion RATING: TBA STATUS: In Progress
Gabriel was getting anxious. Too much careful treading lead to long and unnecessary delays, and as much as he knew that Peter and especially Nathan didn't trust Adam, he needed to know exactly what the man knew in regards to his ability. He was playing at it like it was much more than anyone else knew, that he was missing some critical piece of the puzzle, the piece that Angela kept refusing to tell him, and he simply couldn't put it off any longer. He needed to know. He needed some sort of relief from the constant worry and burden that came from fearing that at any moment, he could snap and kill everyone that meant anything to him. He couldn't let it come to that. And it was one of the reasons why he had resolved that he had to do anything in order to get out of the Hyperion, on his own, with others having the knowledge that he would be gone so they wouldn't panic if they noticed he was. Even if he meant that he had to lie about what he was going out for.
He'd been turning this over in his mind since he had snuck out in order to help get Adam something to eat. He hadn't had the chance to talk to him then because he hadn't had the leeway to stay out as long as he could imagine that that conversation would have taken. But he'd resolved in that moment that he couldn't just sit around and wait for an opportunity to present itself. He wasn't going to allow himself to reach the brink by doing nothing if there was something that he could do. If the opportunity wasn't going to come on his own, he would make one.
Gabriel had always been a good liar when he had had the motivation to be. He'd had guilt when doing it when it hadn't been necessary, but whenever he'd convinced his mind that a lie was critical to whatever was happening, he could breeze through it all with relative ease. After much consideration, he'd manufactured a more than decent lie, one that he would have to actually make into a truth after telling it, but in the end, he could only see that benefit would come from this in the end. He couldn't think of any reason that anyone would try and inject themselves into the situation in order to buddy along with him in this situation. And even if they tried, he could always easily feign being uncomfortable with the idea. He sincerely would have if he were actually asking for this.
