She allowed him to pull her closer, and after a moment or two, her own arms slipped around his neck. She held onto him tightly, burying her face into his hair. It was then that she felt another sob rising up into her throat, but she choked it down with some effort.
"Maybe that part of it," she replied, her voice strained. "But Sam, you heard him. You know he means business. We don't have to just give Ruby up, but...that thing she wants you to do? With that demon? Sam, you can't do it. You can't. If...if he finds out, who knows what would happen?"
That was what she was afraid about the most. Of course, there was that annoying gnawing voice in the back of her head that insisted something would still happen between Sam and Ruby even with her around, but what really upset her was what Uriel would do to Sam, or what kind of consequences would fall on his shoulders if he went through with the plan.
