He'd caught on. Heather wasn't surprised, but she certainly didn't like it. Unfortunately, she wasn't given a chance to retort before Uriel gave a snap of his fingers, and she woke up to find Sam wide awake next to her.
She was breathing hard, her chest rising and falling with each shallow breath she took. Sweat glistened on her forehead, and she reached up to rake a trembling hand through her hair.
She couldn't look at Sam right away. Not after all of the revelations, both via the dream and based on what Uriel had said. Instead, she pressed her palms to her face and rubbed at her eyes, remaining silent.
