Lilith’s pleading look softened when Anna took up her offer and shut her eyes close. She brought her close to her and took her slim body into her arms. In a fraction of second, she whispered a chant beneath her breath: “Nanomachine Krsnik 04. 20 % activated.”
The demon lunged forward immediately, clawing Lilith’s back before two rainbow-colored wings unfurled from there and swatted him away: blood and skin returning from the deep scratching, knitting and closing the cuts. Her fingernails had enlarged and cut like sharp bone, her blunt teeth grew fangs and her golden eyes gleamed in a red glow. Although she could be fearsome, she didn’t look frightening. Unlike her peers, Lilith had been graced with a divine appearance to contrast with the monstrous image.
“Retreat.” Was her unwavering warning, uttered in a deeper voice, while golden aura unfolded them. Lilith took off with Anna in her grasp, leaving the attackers anchored to the ground.
