“Fájt neki?“ (Hurt her?) Gazing down at the dog her youthful eyes were full of concern. How could she hurt something so small? Selene sighed and cleared her throat. Figuring this all out would be decidedly harder if he could not understand her. Holding the dog out she pushed her into the mans arms.
“I-- I won’t hurt her, sir.” She liked the puppy an awful lot. The sound of her own voice was strange. Though her accent was thicker the tone of the words were deeper, older somehow. Carefully she wiped away the spot where the dog licked her with the back of the sleeve that hid her hand. “Who are you?”
He was keeping his distance from her which suited her just fine. Selene had no experience with men. Though she could not help but wonder if he had paid father for her hand. She was certainly the right age to be married. Did she belong to this man? A million thoughts ran through her head. Most of them only made the confusion and fear in her eyes worse. She was unsure of how she had gotten it or where to get more but she did recall eating candy just before this happened. “I had a treat.” It was unlike anything she had ever eaten before.
When a few moments had passed and the strange man had made no attempt to hurt her, Selene grew slightly more bold. The young girl wanted answers. Grabbing hold of his hand she pulled him forcefully to the wall where there were four small switches. Flipping each of them one at a time she looked up as the lights came to life. “How is that possible?” She asked with wide eyed innocence. “How am I here? A young girl told me the year is two thousand and five, that I am in a place called the United States. Father will be very angry if you have taken me without permission.” Shaking an angry finger at him, that bounced off his heavy chest she glowered. “Az egészséges rengeteg megvárja te!”(A sound lashing awaits you!)
