May was going to have to give him a second to absorb all that past the point where all he could think was, 'well, at least dad won't lose his leg'. That wasn't exactly the most productive of thoughts, nor was it helpful to the situation. Not that there was much he could do about their current situation. He was pretty stuck.
"...Did you say I missed an apocalypse?" He stopped for a second before shaking his head. "No. Never mind. Don't answer that, okay? This is weird enough as it is. Kind of like different versions of mom and dad existing in alternate dimensions. It's like Star Trek." Which at one point, he would have thought was awesome. Unfortunately, this was the wrong set of circumstances.
Ben winced. "It's also kind of headache inducing," he said, deciding that for the moment he wasn't going to try and figure it out. He'd have plenty of time for that. "Do you think I should even be staying with him? I mean... if he's not our dad, and he's upset over mom? Do you think I'm making it worse?"
This? Was also not the least stressful topic he could have come up with, but as much as Ben had been inwardly gloating earlier about catching up with his sister in age, she was still the oldest. Older by fifteen years, and she knew this version of their dad better than he did. Her advice mattered.
