"Oh. I'm sorry," Heather replied with a sudden frown. She knew what it was like, not having parents around, and in a place like this, she figured it would have to be an even harder thing to deal with for someone Hannah's age.
She glanced down at the frog that went hip-hopping by, then returned her gaze to Hannah. "I don't like them much, either. But they're not as bad as some of the other things around here, right?" A pause. "None of them are bothering you, right? I mean, you have a place to stay and everything?"
