WHO: Anya and Ruby WHAT: Revenge! (plotted with the ok from Alessa-player!) WHEN: Tuesday afternoon WHERE: A disused apartment building RATING: PG13- dark magic STATUS: COMPLETE
Anya's fury was no less reduced, even with a couple of days to think it over. Alessa had been her friend, sure. And this wasn't her fault. But it wasn't death Anya craved, it was vengeance. And quickly, before Alessa returned to her usual self.
So now it was time to meet up with Ruby. There was a certain poetry of a Demon-turned-Witch teaming up with a Witch-turned-Demon in the name of vengeance. Anya approved of that.
It was as D'Hoffryn always said, never go for the kill when you can go for the pain. Pain was lasted much longer.
She entered the empty apartment building where she had agreed to meet Ruby, her expression still grim.
"You ready?"
"Yes I am"
Ruby supposed this was the kind of thing she should feel bad about if she was thinking like that. Thinking like human. But she wasn't human, hadn't been in a long time and much as she could remember it she just wasn't.
Which meant she was capable of doing things the others couldn't, Sam, Dean, their family. Even Castiel who not long ago level a city with a thought. He liked humanity too much, so did she but she wasn't sure this version of Alessa counted.
No. She was doing this for Sam, and even for Heather, she'd seen how cut up the whole business had made the woman. She loved Sam so completely and this was her friend that had hurt him. And Ruby for her part hated seeing him hurt like that. Not that she'd ever tell him that.
Vengence it was then.
She didn't need any of the summoning stuff for this, what would she summon, a demon to give her power, she WAS the power. In her hand she held a packet of needles, Very sharp, very very sharp. She'd specified that. And she knew of a thousand other ways to make the woman hurt. Just off the top of her head.
"You just tell me where to chant" she added her eyes clouding black.
Anya smiled darkly, handing Ruby a slip of paper with the address Alessa had so helpfully provided as she herself knelt down, a slight gesture of her hand lighting four small flames at the north, south, east and west of her position. A circle in which to focus her power.
The sight of the needles pleased her.
"How about we get her attention by making her vomit those up," her smile grew darker. "And then we make her feel every cut, every burn that she inflicted on the boys."
Ruby nodded, and knelt in the circle, not wasting any time.
Anya wanted to get Alessa's attention.
She started chanting, black eyes focused on the needles in her hand, the smell of sulphur starting to permeate the room, she couldn't help that and figured Anya wouldn't mind.
She scattered the needles inside the circle, the magic of it aiding in locating the woman, mixing with her own power as a demon. Ruby refused to use her demonic abilities but this, she'd been doing things like this even when she was mortal.
She kept up the chanting, hands held out over the needles. Alessa would be feeling it. Ruby could almost taste the blood.
Anya knew Alessa had to be feeling the pain by now, as she kept her gaze on the needles, glinting coldly in the dim light.
In the meantime she began the chanting of her own.
"I come before the Old Ones in deference and honor," she began, calling on her old colleagues and friends for the help. "The Lower Beings who delight in the pain of others. I offer before you this sacrifice, Alessa. Bring upon her the pain she inflicted on others, on Sam Winchester and Xander Harris."
Her own eyes went dark with magic as the power was increased, the flames growing higher. She could feel Ruby's power adding to her own and she was grateful for it.
"I come before the Old Ones to ask for vengeance. She hurt what was not hers and now must pay the price."
Her face twisted angrily as she pictured Alessa clearly in her mind, sending the power in her direction. She pictured the cuts and burns on Xander, every wound inflicted unfairly on him, and hoped Ruby was doing the same for Sam.
Ruby focused her power, shifting her focus from the needles to Anya's spell, giving her power. She was hardly what they might call a lower being but she wasn't an Old One by this worlds reckoning, she was somewhere in between.
Her face didn't hold the anger Anya's did. Or not the same kind of anger anyway. Ruby just looked cold, remembering Sam and how he'd looked, and Heathers conflicted worry her fiance versus her friend, and Alessa she knew was more than a simple friend, Heather had explained her world, and Ruby knew how hard this must be for her. She'd promised not to kill Alessa. And this wouldn't. But it was needed vengence.
Every injury. Blood for blood.
She gifted Anya with power. No deals...well, maybe when this was done Anya could buy her fries.
That'd work.
Ruby toed a fine line with her magic, she knew that. But this, it was worth it. The chanting continued, in an ancient tongue.
Blood for Blood.
Anya switched between several languages, both human and demon. Her current language, the one she had been born with, latin, greek, and a tongue only known to those who had walked the Halls at Arashmahaar. Eventually she would have to find out what borrowing Ruby's power would cost the ex demon, but for now she didn't care. Vengeance was worth paying for. Finally she finished with a final call.
"D'Hoffryn," she cried. "I may no longer be one of your servants, but I served you faithfully for over a millenia. Reward my centuries of loyal work, grant me my request now. Give me vengeance against Alessa."
Then she stopped, the power raised finally flowing back to the earth. She took a moment to breathe deeply, before looking up with a quizzical look and a wrinkled nose.
"What is that smell?"
Ruby sent her own respect to the demons of this world, especially the one Anya had served and felt some of the power leave her, flow to Anya and then away. Away to find Alessa.
And looked up, eyes still black but her expression pure confusion. Smell?
...Oh.
"Sulphur...sorry...my fault"
She looked around the circle at the thin coating of Sulphur her power had created and shook her head.
"Got too close to...never mind"
She closed her eyes opening them a second or so later back to human and stood.
"Now, you made a deal. Took my power. In return you're buying me fries."
Anya was mildly perturbed, the smell faintly nauseating.
"Your magic is weird," she stated calmly, standing up before arching her eyebrow.
"Fries? That's your price for the power?" There was a beat before she shrugged. "Ok, fair enough."
