Nathan had teleported with Peter before, but the sensation between that and this was different, especially different for not being prepared – planwise, yes, the immediate prepared, no – that this was going to happen, just having the scenery change. Most of it, but not all, as evidenced by the tagalong Wolfram & Hart people, a mix of human and vampire, but thankfully no demons, four in all.
The vampire was near, but so was Faith, so Nathan, still holding on to Peter tightly, turned his gun on the closest human, firing without hesitation, not so much trusting Bela to dispatch with the others on a trust basis, but leaving that window open for her given she'd been just as shot at as the rest of them. Trap or no, it looked much like Wolfram & Hart didn't care nearly enough about the woman dying in the process.
There was a difference, and always had been, between killing vampires and demons and ending human lives, but right now he couldn't make that distinction because if he didn't shoot first, they would. One fell, then the next, the second with two bullets in his chest, only one Nathan's. It seemed he'd worked even more as a team with Bela Talbot than he had thought he would.
