It was a quick ride up one floor, and then to the stairs. The stair well was dark and Bela was careful not to make any sudden movements. If she'd been in their position she would have shot herself immediately had she done anything even remotely suspicious. She kept her gun hand down by her side and just concentrated on hurrying up the flight of stairs. Despite what they thought she did want to get Peter out. It was a trap in a way, yes, but she disliked torture. She really did, and she was fine with Lilah's little Alistair act ending now.
"Do calm down," she muttered to Faith. "You're not forcibly entering my flat this time so you have no need to worry." The bullets were for the shamans standing guard and keeping the spells intact. Bela hoped they hadn't been alerted to this plan. She needed it to look real.
The clacking of her heeled boots finally came to a stop when the stairs ended and there was nothing but a door in front of them. Bela could feel the smothering amount of spells and protection encircling the floor. She'd never noticed it before, but then this was the first time she'd approached without permission. That likely had something to do with it. She slipped a lock pick kit from her pocket and started working. The lock clicked.
Bela glanced behind her, motioning with her hand for silence and for them to stay back as she turned the handle. They would need it, as there wasn't much the hex bags would do when the shamans could actually see them with their own two eyes.
"Miss. Talbot?"
"Henry," Bela returned. She wasn't shy about the fact that she was holding a very loaded gun as she looked at the shaman and his partner. "Step aside."
The shaman looked at her, confused. "Miss. Morgan didn't say that you'd be coming--"
She raised the pistol. "Obviously not. Step aside."
It was only when he started chanting in a language she absolutely didn't understand and raising his hands warningly that she fired the first shot. A second followed and Bela was quickly stepping over the two robed bodies, making her way to the keypad for Peter's locked cell door.
"Quickly!" she said over her shoulder to the rest of the group. There was a loud beep as she overrode the door codes. "You felt that barrier when we came up here? The hex bags were the only things that allowed us in, and someone is going to notice that it's down. Go get your brother. We have a minute and a half at the most."
