Nathan caught the comment as he moved closer to the two women and bit back his own agreement in favor of neutrality. "Maybe, maybe not, but it's giving the others a little more piece of mind," he said, doing one final check of everything he carried on himself and the small bag on his back. They had needed to be prepared for every contingency and that meant packing a little heavier than he would have preferred.
This close the building, he kept waiting for the mental connection to reestablish at all, but thus far nothing. The days without it had left Nathan feeling like part of him was missing, cut off, and even now he couldn't stop reaching out with thoughts and feelings that likely weren't going anywhere.
Focus. It was time to focus just on this. Spotting the woman he recognized from the images as they moved down the alley, he nodded briefly in semi-greeting and approached her.
