At least you are sure he is alive Sarah knew it. She knew it and it was more proof than nearly anyone else had firsthand, more proof than others had had in the past, yet the swell of frustration edging ever-closer to desperation didn't let it be enough anymore. Peter knew they would come, she was right, but as the days ticked back, did his hope falter bit by bit? He wouldn't give up, but how much hope lost would there be by the time something actually happened?
But the offering of food caught Sarah's attention and she blinked once before offering Tenel Ka a grateful nod. It would have been a smile, no matter how slight, were this about anything else.
"Thanks, I wasn't even thinking of food when we left," she murmured, rolling up the map before she rose and took the proffered nutritional bar.
"This is just so frustrating," she said, standing up shortly after, the words rough, almost a growl. Even now, the pressure building in her, the control and strength she'd had all this time because she had to, was threatened. "Knowing I can feel him, but when it counts, it's like he isn't there because I can't reach him, I can't help him. How does someone face that without losing their sanity?"
