"Oh, is he not a good ruler?" there were a few countries back home with poor Kings or Emperor's, but they usually ended up dead when they made two many mistakes. "I don't see how he can be so useless, and yet no one has challenged him." maybe it was his birth right to the throne. But if you messed up too many times, there was going to be a revolution, or that was what she had come to notice in observing politics.
She had no idea where he was talking about, but the idea of a structure that high was almost too much for her to fully comprehend. "And I thought Balor's Needle was high..." she whispered to herself. She didn't see how a structure could be so high without falling over. Whoever made the designs for it had to be very intelligent. Though what he was saying did make sense. If you couldn't expand your land any further, go up. She was kind of happy that Tortall didn't seem like it was going to be doing either anytime soon though.
She gave him a suspicious look, then looked at the paper again. In years of living at a palace, she had come to decide when someone does not want to give a straight answer, sometimes it is best just not to ask. "I have never heard of a place that gives out welcoming gifts in the form of money." she informed him with a shake of her head. "But I will go along with it, and thank you." she wasn't sure she wanted to know...actually, she knew she didn't want to know where the money came from. But there was no one here stopping them, or yelling about a thief, so maybe she was just over reacting.
Her eyes softened slightly, about as close to a sympathetic look as the confused Princess could get right now. "I'm sorry...you must miss your people very much." she already missed hers. Though she really hoped she didn't fall into the same boat as 'no way back.' She could not stay here, she needed to go back home. Not only was her country depending on her for this marriage, she wanted the marriage, more than anything. Staying here was just no an option.
