Ruby paced back and forth in her motel, unable to settle or focus, she knew logically that Sam was right that walking away would make sense, would save Castiel. But she at the end of the day was still a demon, too selfish to turn away from something she found she wanted.
And she did want it. Want him.
Messed up as that was.
She wasn't wearing as potent a hex bag as usual anymore, this one was tailored only to demons. She did it so he could find her. She needed him to.
They needed to talk, about what Sam had said, her conversation with Jo Harvelle...
Why she had felt the need to question god in the first place?. Why it had become a vendetta?.
...And she needed to see him to make sure he still wanted her.
As happened now and again, Ruby wondered what it would be like to be as other demons were, uncaring, unfeeling, revelling in death and chaos. She thought it would have stifled her, and sometimes that line she usually stayed well back from drew nearer than she would have liked. Her refusual to use her demon powers helped, but seeing Sam, seeing what he could do, though he walked a different line that she, it was hard. Other demons wouldn't have cared about an Angel of the Lord.
"Maybe it would be better if I just vanished again" she said, to no one
