For one horrible moment Dean thought that this was going to spiral out of control. He knew that his Dad wouldn't let this thing end him, but there was a risk there of John firing the bullet and missing. If the bullet missed, then they had no other course of action.
God, he hurt, but he still struggled against the hold that Azazel had on him. He wanted free, wanted to get to Jo, but then something wonderful happened: the yellow eyed bastard's foot landed in the trap and his hold on Jo was released.
