The words held such a ring of truth to them, when combined with all of the other facts he'd stated thus far, that Cordelia found she was having a hard time just brushing them aside like she had everything else he'd said thus far.
Sitting across from him, studying him, she found herself almost wanting to believe what he said was true. Actually, there was no 'almost' involved. She did want to believe him. She didn't want what they had to come to an end, and she certainly didn't want to have to admit that she'd been played a fool by an enemy.
Fortunately, before she could voice any of this, or do much of anything else, there was a nudge to her mind that she instantly recognized. Oh, crap, was the first thought she had, followed by a rather embarrassed feeling at the realization that obviously Peter would have heard that, too.
With her Champion now inside her head, Cordelia felt relief that she had someone there 'with' her, in a manner of speaking, and slightly annoyed that now her conversation would have to be cut short, no matter if she wanted it to or not. She just had to figure out how to do it.
"Okay," she finally spoke, mainly to get herself re-focused on the conversation rather than the inside of her own head. "I get that you don't see yourself as a villain. However, I'm pretty sure Hitler never saw himself as a villain either, and he was just about as evil as they come."
Finishing her drink, she rose to her feet. "So as much fun as this has been, I need to go now before you actually start making sense and I find myself the new Eva Braun or whatever her name was." Turning to go, Cordelia stopped after a few steps and glanced back at him.
"I do hope I never see you in one of my visions, Caedus," she stated sincerely. "For Amelia's sake, if nothing else, I hope I never see you again." And with that, she made her way out of the bar without so much as a glance back.
