WHO: Peter and MJ. WHAT: Spider-Man plays with teddy bears. SO WHAT. WHEN: Late afternoon. WHERE: Their room at the Hyperion. RATING: TBD.
Being a superhero wasn't the easiest thing in the world. Peter had learned as much the hard way, years ago. However, during times like these, the fact constantly crept up on him and threw him for quite the loop. He had a lot more to juggle around in his life than he ever had before. His photography job, being Spider-Man, working with the Hyperion, and balancing a healthy relationship with his soon to be wife while planning out a wedding and working up the courage that he needed in preparation for becoming a father. It certainly wasn't easy and, while Peter did often enjoy the simple things in life, he found that he preferred it this way. It made him appreciate all of those little moments so much more than he would have otherwise.
It was fairly early, so Peter hadn't exactly rounded himself up for another patrol as of yet. Instead, he was standing in front of the dresser in his and MJ's room, reaching into the large bag that he had settled onto it's edge a few moments prior to his return from the store. Awkward wasn't even close to describing the experience that he'd endured while venturing inside of the unknown territory, but it felt nice being in there all the same. A lot of people seemed to take pity on his lack of experience with the entire father situation and were more than quick to help him sort through his questions and concerns. He'd picked up a few books, small items of clothing, and a stack of toys that he probably really didn't need to buy but thought that the baby would enjoy anyway.
And now he was here. Pulling out a teddy bear from the bag. It didn't do much. It was just a normal stuffed animal, really. But it was soft and something that he figured would comfort the baby whenever it needed something to cling onto, so Peter imagined it would prove itself useful in the near future. He moved back to the bed with it and sat down, taking a moment to examine the object.
Then, quite out of the blue, he calmly said, "It looks like you're going to be one of the first influences on my child's life."
The bear did nothing but stare at him.
Peter chose to continue anyway. "So I think that you should know that, as the father, I'm gonna have to keep an eye on you. If you try to swindle my kid into doing jaywalking or...or bottle snatching, I'll have have a pretty nasty lecture coming your way and you will not enjoy it, mister."
Again with the staring.
"Don't give me that look, pal. I know where you live." Peter pointed a finger at the bear and, in spite of himself, grinned. He was talking to a teddy bear. But what could he say? He was excited. And he needed to practice this one sided interaction if he was going to end up chatting away with his kid. It was probably going to be that way for a while, after all.
