"I'm awake," he told her, rolling his eyes. "Awake enough for chess anyway." Really, that was like telling Ron that he wasn't allowed to play Quidditch because he was just a tiny bit sleepy. That would have gotten a real big laugh out of him, that was for certain.
He watched carefully as Hermione cast he charm on the board. Biting back a comment about her being a little know-it-all (one that would have been fueled in a more pleasant tone than the usual annoying air that he tended to carry with it), Ron leaned over the board and ordered one of the pieces to shift a few spaces over. It instantly obliged.
Eyes widening a bit, Ron glanced up at Hermione and shot her a wide grin. "Bloody brilliant, that was! Merlin, it took me ages to even figure half the charmwork..." He shook his head and moved the piece back into it's proper place. Then he shifted a little and looked over to Hermione.
