Absorbed in her own thoughts Selene had not caught wind of the stranger in her midst. When his voice interrupted her moment of misery Selene quickly wiped the tear from her face, clearing her throat to force any shakiness away before she spoke. Revealing her inner turmoil to a stranger was the last thing she wanted to do.
As she rose Selene smoothed out the casual clothing she wore. Her delicate fingers smoothed over an intricately woven lace blouse that was nearly the same pale colour as her skin. The hem of her slacks fell back down over her bare feet as she stood up.
"That would be me." As she turned she offered her hand. "May I help you?" It had been a long while since a new face made a presence at the converted church. In truth it was a good distraction. She could only stare at her phone waiting for a response for so long.
