The tears almost provoked him from where he was sitting in his chair over to her. He hated this distance. There was barely any good comforting that could be done with a self-imposed length between them when what she needed with a quiet reassurance and attention. But he stayed steadfastly where he was. He wasn't going to risk it. "I know, Claire. There is no reason that you should give up the hope that you can help him, but people are all going to have their opinions. It's hard for a lot of people to look past someone's history. There's going to be resistance to the idea that someone that far gone, even if he doesn't remember it, can be saved," Gabriel said quietly, looking up at Claire with a quiet sympathy in his eyes.
"I doubt they hate you," Gabriel said, offering her a light smile. He really couldn't see any reason for any of them to hate her. Well, maybe her older self, but that was to be expected, wasn't it? The older Hiro had hated his younger self, after all. Of course, the older Hiro hated pretty much everyone. "It's just... They've had a lot to deal with lately," He said, his eyes moving to the floor. "I... I did something that I didn't want to do, that I shouldn't have. I had to leave to clear my head."
