Gabriel heard the knock on door, slipping over to it and pausing for a moment before her heard the whisper (barely) through the door. Reaching down, Gabriel pulled open the door, offering Claire the weakest of smiles before he stepped back. It wasn't that he wasn't happy to see her. He was. But he was afraid of being alone with anyone right now. His mind already knew how to get to her. That knowledge had been integrated when he'd gone after Peter. So if he lost his grip on it, there was a possibility that it could happen all over again.
Which was why when he stepped back to let her into the room, he left the door as wide open as he could leave it. She had a direct passage for escape if he started acting weird, and everyone else could make sure that nothing happened. Hopefully, nothing would.
"I don't think anyone is going to think anything of you being here," Gabriel said, offering Claire a slight stronger smile before motioning for her to sit down on the bed as he pulled out his desk chair and took a seat himself. "You really didn't have to whisper."
It was hard to say why she felt the need to. Things hadn't gotten that bad, had they?
