The amusement wiped off his face. "They're called vampires," he said, scowling. "Though they're different from the ones I'm used to. The kind around here are monsters, simple as that. I hear sticking a wooden stake in their heart isn't good for their health." Adam smiled, only this time it lacked the humor and warmth it'd had a moment ago. "And fire works wonders." The warmth returned. "It definitely is."
"Exactly. But people get ideas and some things that are different, they think they're dangerous and try to work against it. Sometimes it's just better leaving them in the dark."
