"Machina?" There was that word again that she kept using. It sounded pretty damn close to machine, but he wasn't sure what part of the world used machina instead. The thought was followed by a small shrug as if to say, who cares as long as she fixed it? "It's old," he stated, patting the hood affecionately. "My first and only."
The sideview mirror was duct taped on, it rattled madly every time he got over forty on the highway, and probably should have been put to pasture years ago. But he just couldn't bring himself to part with her. His eyebrow rose as she began pulling tools from her pocket and went to work. He didn't think all that could fit into clothing like that.
Adam watched her for about twenty minutes, expecting questions, but instead watching in interest as she worked along steadily. Well, he had to give her that. She knew what she was doing. He headed into the gas station to buy a bottle of soda and returned, sitting on the nearby sidewalk while he waited, checking the messages on his cell phone.
When she started on the dent, he got to his feet, heading over to stand beside her. "Yeah, that doesn't matter." He waved a hand at the door. "It gives it...character, you know?" And probably deterred any theives that came looking for some parts to harvest.
