Dahlia had drawn the gyromancy circle in chalk on the floor, with the alphabet chalked in around it. No one would interrupt her in this deserted place.
Dahlia spun in the center of the circle until she felt the dizziness. Finally she stumbled into a letter drawn on the edge of the circle.
The letter was L. She had already been at this practice for well over an hour, and the sentence she had so far was this:
HEATHER PART SOUL
She was not a stupid woman, and didn't need any more words to figure out what the gods were trying to tell her, and what soul Heather was a part of. Her daughter Alessa had split herself off another time, and Heather was the product. So Dahlia was a grandmother, or perhaps a mother again, depending on how you looked at it.
Dahlia barely knew Heather, but that was going to need to change. If the girl had powers, Dahlia would need to work on her. But first she had to speak with Alessa. For now Dahlia just might have the upper hand.
