"Yeah, well a mother's love is supposed to be strong, and eternal. At least that's what I've read." Alessa frowned once more when she noticed that LaCroix was moving to the mini-bar, and fixing a drink. It wasn't until he offered it to her that Alessa knew who it was meant for. "Umm, thanks."
She didn't drink much. She always worried that her powers would go hay wire if she ever lost her inhibitions to alcohol, but for tonight she decided to go ahead and have some. Raising the glass to her lips she took a sip. The brandy burned a little, but Alessa could get used to it. She took another sip, and placed the glass down on a coaster.
"She's doing alright. I gave her some money for a hotel, and she said she's looking for a place. She also said something about opening up an antique store here." Alessa frowned when she remembered something else, "she also said that she wants to find believers, and start up that church again."
She took another sip of the brandy, and could feel the calming effect starting to work. With a tone that was more calm, Alessa talked once more. "My mom was/is a very powerful magician. She doesn't have any abilities of her own, but she knows how to do rituals, ceremonies, and spells and make them work. She also knows how to conjure demons, and have them do her bidding."
Alessa took another sip. There was now only one more sip left, but she would save that. The calming effect was now starting to turn into a more hazy effect, and another effect. She rested an elbow against the table, then rested her chin on top of her upper arm. Her lower arm covered a part of her face, and for the longest time Alessa just stared at her glass. It was only when it started moving, that Alessa moved her head up, and got the glass to stop moving.
"She's also smart. I mean she knows how to fool people so they believe what she wants them to believe. When I was fourteen, she had this man convinced that I was a demon taking a child's form. She also convinced him that I was going to offer up his daughter as a sacrifice to Samael, and would bring Hell to earth. Of course that was a load of bullshit, but the man believed it." Alessa paused, continued with, "But there's times that she tells the truth. I remember one time when I was seven years old, and I saw this bronze pyramid. Of course being the curious little girl I was, I absolutely had to know what this thing was, I had to touch it, and I had to examine it. Well, when I touched the thing it was hot. Very, very hot, and my mom yelled at me. She explained to me that the device was actually a cage, and a demon lived inside of it. When contained it could help focus my powers, but if released then everyone would burn in the fires of Hell."
Alessa took the final sip of her drink, and decided that she didn't want anymore. The alcohol was taking effect, and she indeed found herself with more of a fuzzy feeling.
"Ironically, she was absolutely right about that device."
