Cathy blinked, head shaking vigorously. "I don't think that's an experience I'm likely to have in this lifetime," she confided in Mary Jane, though her tone was humorous. The subject of children had always been one on which Cathy had been divided. There was no doubt in her heart when she married Jamie that she would bear his children, raise a family, and love every minute of it. But there were other things she wanted to do with her life, too...create a name for herself of the stage, see the world. When she had signed the divorce papers at twenty-seven, she had simply written off the idea. Dreams changed. Didn't they?
She grinned over at the other woman, feeling sympathetic and a little guilty for needling her. "You know I'm only kidding with you, right?" she asked. "I entirely support your bizarre cravings."
The conversation was turned back around on her with Mary Jane's question, and she hesitated visibly. "It's been...different." That was certainly one way to put it.
