"I would suggest," Bela said, her voice turning very serious. "That you engage in scouting on Lilth before you devote any of your firm's resources towards doing anything about her. I cannot begin to describe the threat she poses and, admittedly my time here has been short, but I've not seen anything in this world that even starts to come close to her level of power."
And now no one could say they hadn't been warned. That was far more than she'd done for others.
She was, as always, reluctant to talk in detail about her contract, but then Lilah revealed the long and thin scar on her neck and Bela found herself intrigued, as she tended to be when it appeared that someone had clawed their way back from the dead.
Bela canted her head. "The contract was followed through with, as per usual. I've found that when one has a contract with Hell it's exceedingly hard to be rid of," she said. "I was pulled out... or thrown out, as someone has said, and put here in Los Angeles. However, Lilith seems to think that she's going to be putting me back. That won't be happening."
She paused for a moment. "I was young when I made the deal, and it was a foolish one, I will admit now. But what's done is done and there's little use dwelling on it. I was lucky. I've served my time and now I'm through. I could ahve been worse."
