An 'acquirer' on staff. Not a new concept for Wolfram and Hart. Gwen Raiden had served them well for many years. But despite hunting for her Lilah had seen no sign of the electric thief and as such her talents needed to be replaced.
She sat at her own desk, losing the false smile and eying Bela with a genuine assessing look.
"If you're that good then yes, we'd be very interested," she said after a moment. "Lets put it to the test."
She opened the drawer of her desk and pulled out a file.
"There's an amulet, up for sale at Chandlers Auction House. If you can... acquire it, then we can have a relationship."
There was a test there beyond simply her thieving skills. Would she ask questions? Keep the amulet for herself? It was worth a mere 1.6 million dollars and of medium power in the hands of the right conjurer. But what Lilah needed was a thief who was trustworthy. For her anyway.
"If you can get this for me I will pay you one million dollars. And we can do business. You will be required to acquire items on behlaf of the Firm and our clients and in return, along with the commission for each item, you will have the full resources of the Firm at your disposal. That includes free representation should you ever be arrested and that includes for any recreational activities in your own time."
