"Didn't think so," he replied, trying to bring some humor into the situation. Most people could think what they wanted of him, but above all else, even his fantasy football team getting steamrolled, Jason hated seeing anyone he was close to hurting. That especially applied to Rob and Lily.
"Later I'm going to be offended by that remark." He adjusted his arm around Rob so that they could move quicker across the street along with the masses fleeing the beach. Jason wanted out of there and quick. He'd had enough of impossible monsters and appearing in mysterious places. No motivation needed.
As they finally reached the road, Jason waited only a few seconds before taking the lead in the crossing. Lily's last words stuck in the back of his mind, and he wanted to ask what had happened on the bridge, but again, it wasn't the place or time for that. "Get those keys ready."
