He didn't understand half of what she was talking about. Clones, maybe? Vampires? It didn't make any sense at all. He considered pressing her on the subjects, thinking it a vital matter, but when he saw the look on her face his heart nearly broke in half. The city didn't seem to be in any direct chaos at the moment. The questioning could wait until she was more stable.
He opened his mouth to speak again, but the faint glint from her ring caught his attention. A sudden pang of guilt flooded through him. "Three months," he said quietly, "we would have been married by now."
