Instantly, Heather's eyebrows rose up in both pleasant surprise and amusement. "Yeah?" she asked, already grinning. "Well I feel pretty special now, you making that kind of exception for me and all. And one that I'm sure I'm gonna enjoy."
She could smell the food before it even appeared before them on the trays, but when she turned to pick up her own, Sam had already taken care of it. She gave him an appreciative smile, inwardly trying to remember the last time someone had treated her like this, but she couldn't. Sam was the first and only in a situation like this, and she definitely liked that.
Sitting down once again and digging into her own burger, Heather gave a sigh of what sounded like contentment after she'd swallowed. "Oh, man. That beats leftovers any day." Afterwards, she took a drink of the shake and felt the thick, chocolatey goodness moving down her throat. "And I made a good decision with that, too.'
