Sharpay was startled when she felt a hand on her back. She looked up from her knees, for once Sharpay didn't feel like being mean, or snarky, or putting on a mask to hide how she felt. Right now all she wanted to do was cry.
"It's not fair!" she gasped, letting out a tiny sniff. "Elle was my best friend," she paused.
My only friend, she added mentally. As upset as she was that wasn't something she was willing to admit just yet.
