Poor unfortunate souls In pain In need
As the song from the old Disney movie filtered through the room, Lois painfully felt like she was one of the "poor unfortunate souls" the song was talking about. She was everything that was being mentioned, and probably more. One could tack "backstabber", "betrayer", and "slut" onto that, as well.
The longer Lois stood there, listening to the music, the more uncomfortable she felt. The more she felt she didn't belong here. Nothing felt right, and she suddenly felt it was due time for her to take her leave. She needed to get out. She needed to be alone.
She stopped by the spot where Lana and Bart were, and bid them both a good night before heading out the door, feeling lost and confused, and almost as though she were suffocating. More and more, she wondered if she was losing it.
