Bart's reaction was such a comfort. Since the day her parents died in the first meteor shower, she had a fear of people leaving her life, by circumstance or by their own will. It had happened on quite a few occasions now, one being that very first kiss when he was younger. He had been a kid then, but she was beginning to realize that maybe she'd loved him even then. Maybe she'd been falling for him since their first conversation about Clark and pie a few days after she'd arrived. Maybe his growing up was the last step to finding her place in this world: his arms.
The moment was fleeting, however, as the phantom was a threat once again. Though she didn't feel a thing, she knew they'd moved again. Getting used to it would be pushing it, but the change in scenery was becoming a bit more familiar to her.
