At the staring, Jessica had simply stared back. All of the reluctance only prompted more questions that she wanted answers to, answers she had been promised but so far hadn’t received. And then he realised, she could tell by the look on his face and finally she felt a little relief. It had taken long enough.
She couldn’t help the small squeal as she got pulled into his arms, after the less than warm welcome she had received earlier she had been surprised by the sudden contact but it definitely wasn't unwelcome. Jessica promptly wrapped her arms around him tightly, burying her face in his jacket. “You could have figured this out sooner,” her voice muffled against the material. It hadn’t been intentional, but the tears that had been long coming started. She hated crying but finally having Sam there, really there, and not distance caused a whole wave of emotion to hit.
Jessica didn’t pull away when she heard Ruby speak, she didn’t want to let go just yet but she still needed answers. “I..Sam, what happened? I don’t understand how..this is possible.”
