Elaine Belloc asked. She had nothing remotely supernatural: a girl leaned on the gates of the Church, wearing a black sundress on her way to mass. People just passed over her and didn’t awake any suspicion while she walked among them. She met Eve’s gaze with her and seemed concerned. She frankly wasn’t very fond of the idea of the Fates as she wasn’t of Destiny’s book, but she had accepted they were part of the system and she couldn’t remove them so easily. If she did, there needed to be a back-up Plan to replace the void.
Brilliant. Nothing was as easier as it seemed when people imagined this job.
At the moment, she was dealing with an angel. Well, not exactly one of her Predecessor’s stuck-up and obedient children but more of… experimental new type. Sort of what she had been in all honesty.
